The exhibition 'Design Histories between Africa and Europe. Flow of Forms / Flow' provides insights into the vibrant creative scenes of the African continent with an impressive selection of examples of contemporary design. Form-finding processes are seen as the result of a reciprocal exchange between Africa and Europe, but also between every day and older creative foundations. Locating design histories globally means, on the one hand, designing as a practice that can be found everywhere, on the other hand, a reflection of the Eurocentric view on African design, often even today characterised by simple contrasts such as traditional/modern, craft/industrial, formal/informal is.
