Book Launch cocktail reception with the curator Bernard de Grunne. We are pleased to invite you to a cocktail reception for the launch of the catalog "Imaginary Ancestors" published by Almine Rech Gallery. On this occasion Bernard de Grunne will present the new publication and will discuss Fang sculptures. ‘Imaginary Ancestors’, is an important catalog published by the gallery in conjunction with the group exhibition organized with Bernard de Grunne and Carlo Severi in New York back in May 2017. This exhibition looked at Primitivism in modern and contemporary art, on the one hand restaging a seminal 1933 Durand-Ruel Gallery exhibition in New York of Fang sculptures and contemporary paintings of the time, and on the other hand presenting a parallel exhibition of Primitivist modern and affiliated contemporary works.
